I stupidly forgot to take a screenshot of the momentous online book launch event today for the first-ever book about the films of exploitation filmmaker ROBERTA FINDLAY (complete with persistent pornhub zoom-bomber!).
The book was edited by Peter Alilunas and @w.strubalicious (pictured, with Roberta holding the book) and featuring writing by many scholars whose work I follow and admire including @horrornonna @dr_johnnywalker Jen Moorman Kevin Bozelka Neil Jackson Finley Freibert - and me! (I wrote about the much-detested SHAUNA: EVERY MAN'S FANTASY, a year-long research project with original interviews etc). Although Roberta is known for being hilariously crotchety and thinking anyone who likes her films is an imbecile, she was actually much easier on us than I expected, and was very generous with her time, sitting still for 2 hours of questions and comments.
(As an aside, poor @donna_mcrae_ , the sweetest person on earth who had dialed in all the way from Australia, was erroneously identified as the Zoom bomber and kicked out of the Zoom lol - hopefully she'll get to watch the recording!)

Got some of the old CineMuerte gang together to see @anttimpson 's BOOKWORM at the @riogrindfilmfest yesterday. Many of us hadn't seen eachother in years and it was a very special occasion because Anthony (that's what everyone called him back then) was an important presence at the fest because he would always come over on the plane carrying several 35mm prints I would play as part of the repertory lineup and generally help everyone out at the fest doing whatever needed to be done, so he was always a guest but simultaneously put to work as a volunteer! I really miss seeing Ant every year -we were so close that he even pressed 'play' on the music as I walked down the aisle (actually a dirt path in the woods) to get married (to the opening song from THE WICKER MAN - only me and Ant knew it was a song from a horror film lol) and apparently we have such similar taste in music that we BOTH used Andy Bown's "Tarot" in our films!

We all adored BOOKWORM - what a great and funny (and appropriately stressful) adventure movie - GO SEE IT in theatres if you have a chance! And thanks to @photonfilmscan for getting out on screens in Canada! 🖤🖤🖤🖤

This oracle deck designed by @ofstickandbone is one of my favourite things I've ever commissioned so I want to make sure it doesnt get overlooked! I believe there are still a small number if bundles available that include the @slippery_jack tea Infuser , the NINTH HEART Puppet stage designed by @papercutpix , the corpse road tea towel by Alice Patullo , the Welsh Folk horror zine by @matchbox_cineclub , the earthy Blood on Severin's Claw tote bag - and don't forget you can individually get the oracle deck and booster pack containing 20 new cards designed by @ofstickandbone just for this box set (HIGHLY recommended, these oracle cards are among my favourite things I've ever commissioned). If you're one of my pals in Winnipeg you probably already know about this, but as I sit proudly on the Board of Directors for the @winnipegfilm Winnipeg Film Group I am compelled to remind people that their massive FUN-draiser is tomorrow night in the Black Lodge (the WFG's black box studio/party space) and among the things you can win in the raffle are BLACK EMANUELLE prizes I donated from @severinfilms , including the box set, the board game, the magnetic doll set and more!
